The Colombian Education Fund (ColEF) is a New York City based educational not-for-profit organization that provides access to scholarship funds, leadership programs, Internship placement, and mentoring opportunities to students of Colombian descent.

Every year ColEF recognizes Colombian leaders that have been working with the Community in Colombia or New York State and have generated a positive change via education. This year the Transforming Lives Award will be presented to Mr. Sergio Fajardo, Governor of Antioquia and Ms. Sandra Fajardo, Director of Academic Advisement at Baruch College – CUNY. Additionally, a special recognition will be awarded to Maria del Pilar Garcia, the 2014 AATSP outstanding teacher of the year secondary Level.

Community Leaders, business people, special guests and supporters are expected to gather for the highly anticipated annual event. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the recipients of last year’s scholarship awards among other special guests.

Walter Rocha, one of the scholarship recipients commented: “The ColEF Liderazgo summit gave me a unique opportunity to meet amazing people with special talents. They gave me a different vision about my career and gave me the strength to go ahead to pursue my dreams. I will never forget about the people at the ColEF Liderazgo summit. Thank you”.

The Gala begins with a reception and a silent auction rounds out the festivities, featuring exceptional items from Colombian artists including Fernando Botero’s latest book “Bullfighting”, signed by the renowned painter. The gala is ColEF’s main fundraiser and all proceeds will benefit the organization’s mission of providing scholarships to students of Colombian descent and the Liderazgo Summit in 2015.
