Hispanic FederationThe Hispanic Federation, a service-oriented membership organization that promotes the social, political and economic well-being of the Latino community, along with Nielsen, the leading global provider of information and insights, announce the release of a groundbreaking research report, Nueva York and Beyond: The Latino Communities of the Tri-State Region. This first of its kind report, using demographic and consumer data, was created in a continued effort to further understand the compelling consumer impact Hispanics have in New York and its surrounding areas.

Latinos’ powerful influence in politics, culture and economy in the New York region, has transformed communities and how they conduct their business.

With the State of New York boasting the fourth largest Hispanic population in the U.S., the research report showcases insights on demographics and consumer behavior, revealing Latinos as a powerhouse contributor in the consumer marketplace.

Hispanic Federation and Nielsen released the report to kickoff the celebration of the 100th anniversary of New York’s El Diario/La Prensa, the oldest Spanish-language daily newspaper in the U.S., which has served as the main voice for Latinos across the U.S. for a century now.

“Understanding the diversity and complexity of the youngest and fastest growing segment of our region’s population is fundamental to the success of businesses, policymakers, nonprofits and the media, said José Calderón, President, Hispanic Federation.  “We are deeply grateful to Nielsen for helping us shed light on the distinctiveness of the Latino experience in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.”

“Being able to begin distilling Nielsen’s rich data base on Latinos in the region is just the beginning of this unique relationship with the Hispanic Federation,” indicated Luis Miranda, member of Nielsen’s Advisory Board and managing partner of MirRam Group.  “The report not only shows the true nature of Hispanic diversity, but also reveals their intricacies affecting education, consumerism and characteristics.”
