Queensborough Community College – just ranked the top community college in the state – is accepting late applications due to some students’ concerns about in-person teaching at some colleges.

“We’re hearing from students who were previously enrolled in other colleges who are simply not comfortable traveling to campuses across the country for face-to-face education,” said Vice President, Stephen Di Dio.

“We want to be here for our community. Queensborough provides an alternative for students to earn college credit without the negative consequences of taking a costly gap year.

According to a recent analysis by the New York Fed, a “gap year” can reduce lifetime earnings by more than $90,000.

99% of Queensborough’s courses are exclusively online this fall. The enrollment period, open now, will continue through September 1st, a week after classes will have started.

“We’re hearing from students who don’t want to be on a campus, but they don’t want to fall behind on their degrees either. That’s smart thinking,” Di Dio said

“There’s time to apply and catch-up. We want everyone to have an opportunity to study at Queensborough if their plans suddenly change. We understand the predicament they’re in.”
