On sept. 20, Queens World Film Festival, blk.beverages and FilmFestivalFlix.comgathered the Queens community together to celebrate the Heroes of Elmhurst at Elmhurst Hospital Center by presenting an $8010 check raised through the recent 11th Annual Queens World Film Festival.
On hand to congratulate the staff was Queens World Festival Directors Preston and Katha Cato, Council Member Danny Dromm, Elmhurst Hospital CEO Helen Arteaga, Director of Culture and Tourism for the Queens Borough President office Phill Ballman, Rob Mackay from the Queens Economic Development Corporation, CEO of Benedict Realty Group Danny Benedict and Queens World Board Member Leigh Montville. Author, Internist, Nutritionist and frequent guest of Kelly and Ryan, Dr. Melina, was also on hand to sign her new book Spice up, Live Long as gifts to the staff.
Elmhurst has a staff of close to 6,000 and houses the World Trade Center Survivors Program, Women’s Services and other vital services. Scores of staff members, Drs. Nurses and Support Services were on hand to celebrate and members of Kalaidospace a Queens-based collective focused on bringing accessible art experiences to the local community taught the staff how to ‘work it’ on the red carpet.
