Zohran Mamdani, candidate for NYC mayor. Photo taken from his campaign video
This is just another city election with the same types of candidates and empty promises. From Christine Quinn, Bill De Blasio, Jumaine Williams and now Zohran Mamdani. Each of these politicians all campaigned on making the city more affordable and socializing programs in the city (with no actual plan on how to make the city affordable)
One thing is for certain, Mr. Mamdani has a political future, which for all millennials appears to now be a career goal instead of a social cause (this is called the AOC effect). While Mamdani campaigned on various promises he has yet to mention his experience as a legislature (his full 4 years in the assembly). I have taken a look at his voting record and found the following results: Did not vote on 6/17/2025 for Bill S 3967 (to Authorize Legal Immunity for Sex Workers), Did not vote on 6/12/2025 for Bill S 6953 (AI Security Protocol), Did not vote on 1/22/2025 for S 36 (Healthcare practice), Did not vote on 1/22/2025 for S929 (Health Information Privacy Act), Voted No for S 8306 on 4/20/2024 (funding for state education, labor, housing, and family assistance), voted No for A 975 on 1/24/2023 (makes it a crime to use ones image), voted No for S 9407 on 6/2/2022 (allowing civilians to buy bullet proof vest), voted NO for S 8006 on 4/9/2022 (voted against the budget),
There is no doubt Mamdani will be the next Mayor of New York City. There is also no doubt the Socialist movement has gained much momentum since AOC defeated Joe Crowley. Unfortunately, City Hall will once again be occupied by an inexperienced Mayor.
New York City has one of the largest economies in the country. The highest real estate market, Television programming, sporting venues, and Wall Street. We used to have a saying in the 80’s and 90’s that New York was so nice “they had to name it twice”: New York, NY. New York City itself represents the very essence of the United States (i.e. the land of opportunities).
Mr. Mamdani does not have enough experience to manage New York. When it comes to his philosophy there is a conflict between his philosophy and New York City’s natural way of life. In New York we expect opportunities to help overcome poverty. We create businesses, invest in our city, and we employee one another. The issues in all our communities are the same: Rent, Education, Public Safety, and Freedom of Speech.
Mr. Mamdani to gain our vote you will need to offer us more then social welfare.
