As New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) expands access to primary and specialty care services throughout the Queens community, a new primary care practice has opened in the heart of Astoria: Astoria Primary Care, located at 41-01 30th Ave. “For routine care and in times of illness, we want to make sure that all Queens residents have access to quality medical care close to home,” said Stephen S. Mills, president and chief executive officer, NYHQ. “Our newly opened Astoria Primary Care practice is an example of our commitment to expanding access to primary care throughout the borough to help protect and promote the health of our community.”

As the healthcare industry emphasizes increasing the number of people who regularly receive routine checkups and screenings to identify and treat diseases in earlier stages – and reducing hospitalizations – primary care physicians are increasingly important as the coordinators of patient-centered care. Primary care physicians provide preventive care and long-term treatment for many conditions, serve as a central manager for care that requires multi-specialty treatment, and guide patients through the healthcare system.

Practice members include family medicine specialists Ambrose Pipia, M.D. and Adina Benitez, M.D., and internists Domenick Acquista, M.D. and Melvina Patel, M.D. More NYHQ-affiliated physicians will be joining them in the near future.

Members of the community can make an appointment with a physician at Astoria Primary Care by calling 718-204-9886. All NYHQ insurances are accepted.

NYHQ has more than two dozen community-medicine facilities, primary care and multispecialty practices throughout the borough of Queens.
