We must stop pretending that we live in a democracy and accept the fact that it is kind of screwed up plutocracy where millionaires, billionaires and their lobbyists control the agenda.
Most of the 535 members of the U.S. Congress are in the deep pockets of the moneyed class in the US and are only interested –through proxies- in getting the approval of those legislations that benefits them.
This arrangement must end. Instead of wealthy individuals being legally able to buy a politician, they may –under the new rules- purchase the job. For instance, under this new deal, the Koch brothers may buy a Senate or Rep. seat.
It is easy, convenient and very lucrative for government.
No more campaigning and fundraising. Goodbye to those endless speeches full of promises that never see the light of day once the candidates are elected.
In the new system, the job purchaser doesn’t have to make any promises. There are no base followers, no right or left politics, no black, Hispanic, Asian or white people, just money and whoever comes up with the money, gets the job. However, there are some rules. Not too many.
Here they are.
1) Both Reps. and Senators will have 6-years terms.
2) The price will be of $ one billion per Senator and $500 million per Rep., plus, the cost of running the office. By the way, only cashier or certified checks are accepted.
3) The deal makes great financial sense for the Feds. It will rake in $100 billion for the Senate and almost $30 billion for the House. Plus there will be a few billions in savings on the upkeep and running of Congress and no taxes have to be paid on these purchases. All 535 jobs have to be sold before the next phase of the transaction is carried out on Election Day. On that day, they will find out which state they will be serving.
4) On that day in November, the job holders will get the name of their assigned state, the House holders will find the state and district, at an event that will be nationally televised. Starting at 9:00 AM (EST) Each job holder will go on stage – in alphabetic order and beginning with Senate job holders- and push one of the 100 green lights and 435 for Reps. on the screen which will immediately project, on a giant screen, the state where he will be Senator or Rep. for the next 6 years.
5) Once this face is completed, there is no turning back. As a matter of fact there was no turning back even before that when you paid for it. There is no return policy on this sale. You bought it you own it for six years and you must do the job you paid for. It is like being in the Army, you are in for the duration. Don’t despair Congress can be a blast.
6) Think how much fun you will have for six years obstructing the President, invading countries for the heck of it and making your friends in the war industry very rich in the process, helping banks and large corporations screw the people, increasing the prisoner population and having it run by private industry, repeal Obama Care, build a 2000 mile wall to keep Mexican illegals out of the US, after all they are rapists, drug dealers and, of course, illegals. This is only the tip of the iceberg of the kind fun you can have if you are one of 535 privledged members of Congress. You’ll have so much fun that you will put in your let me purchase a Congress job application early.
7) Last, but not least, you can only purchase two terms. Other wonderful billionaires deserve to have some fun too. Happy hunting.
