Queens College Receives $1.6 Million Grant in Partnership With Queens South Field Support Center to Promote Diversity in the Teaching Profession
A New York State grant for $1.6 million will help address the goals of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative by funding a new collaboration between Queens College and the Queens South Field Support Center. The grant, which was supported by Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman, will establish a Teacher Opportunity Corps in southern Queens to help increase diversity among those entering the teaching profession in New York City by providing extra training and coaching to talented candidates from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged groups.
