Jazzmobile Block Party at the Louis Armstrong House Museum Featuring the Steve Kroon Sextet and Fulanito on Thursday, August 25th

The Louis Armstrong House Museum’s annual Jazzmobile Block Party on Thursday, August 25, 2016 features the Steve Kroon Sextet. Jazzmobile block party is the grand finale to the museum’s Summer with Satchmo season.  It’s a free, family-friendly event featuring art-making workshops sponsored by the Queens Museum and hula hoop fun beginning at 4:00 pm.  At 5:30 pm, Fulanito, the Latin Grammy nominated Merengue band will perform and warm up the crowd.  Downbeat for Steve Kroon and the Latin Jazz Sextet is at 7:00 pm.   The museum will be open late until 8:30 pm.“The annual Jazzmobile Block Party at the Louis Armstrong House Museum is one of those fabulous ‘only in New York’ experiences,” raves Michael Cogswell, Executive Director of the Louis Armstrong House Museum.  “Where else can you hear percussionist Steve Kroon play an intimate concert for neighborhood families, tourists, and jazz lovers, in front of Louis Armstrong’s house?  It’s a memorable way to spend a summer evening, and it’s totally free!”“Our Jazzmobile Block Party is a great opportunity for families to introduce their children to live jazz in a fun, carefree setting and for grown-ups to kick back and enjoy a beautiful summer evening,” added Jennifer Walden Weprin Director of Marketing & External Affairs. “Bring your favorite lawn chair and join us.”

About Steve Kroon
Steven Kroon has been a professional musician for more than 45 years. Born in Harlem, percussionist Steven Kroon is mostly noted for adding his percussion sounds to the great late vocalist Luther Van Dross from, 1981 to 2001, as well as recording and touring with Ron Carter. He has also recorded and performed with much of the “Who’s Who” in the music business including Stanley Turrentine, Roberta Flack, Bette Midler, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga.  Adding to his credits, he has five CD’s released in his name: “In My Path,” “Senor Kroon,” “El Mas Alla” (Beyond), “Without A Doubt” (Sin Duda), and his latest  “On The #1,” all under his own record label “Kroonatune Records, LLC.” Steve Kroon was named Downbeat Critics Poll Rising Star for 2015.  His band is a high-energy electrifying Latin Jazz Sextet with a blend of Afro Cuban and Brazilian music.
