The East Elmhurst Corona Democrats along with District Leaders Hiram Monserrate, Sonya Harvey, Luis Gomez, Martha Flores-Vazquez and State Committee members David Aiken and Isabel Encalada joined with the 3 Kings and Mickey and Minnie Mouse to celebrate Three Kings Day.

In the spirit of the holiday, gifts were presented to hundreds of children from East Elmhurst, Corona, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Woodside and Flushing. Three Kings Day (Día de los Reyes Magos) is the largest holiday celebrated throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, commemorating the Biblical story of the three magi who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child.  The event was held at the Shaw AME Zion Church, Pastor Rev. Charles W. Young in Corona, Queens where children lined up to meet the Three Kings and enjoy treats and receive gifts.

District Leader Hiram Monserrate stated, Over the years I have helped to organize Three Kings Day events here in Queens. This celebration is rich in culture and tradition and really brings the community together in harmony and joy.  Not to mention the children love meeting the Three Kings and receiving presents!”
