A Celebrate Mexico Now tradition lives on. The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), one of Mexico’s most renowned gatherings for contemporary cinema, sends us five award-winning short films from its 2017 edition ranging from animation to documentary. All the shorts are in Spanish with English subtitles. Following the screening, stay with us for a Q&A with Mexican filmmaker Sofia Carrillo. Moderator: Diana Vargas, Havana Film Festival NY.

La tradición del Celebrate Mexico Now continúa.  El Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM), uno de los festivales de cine contemporáneo más renombrados en México, nos envía cinco cortometrajes premiados de su edición 2017, desde animación hasta documentales.Todos los cortos se presentan en español con subtítulos en inglés. Después de la función habrá una sesión de preguntas y respuestas con la cineasta Mexicana Sofia Carrillo. Moderador: Diana Vargas, Havana Film Festival NY.

Grammy-nominated performer, composer and educator Zacbe Pichardo performs on the Arpa Jarocha, a wooden harp typical of the Mexican Gulf coast. This is the first in a three-part series presenting harp traditions from around the world, in programs inspired by the Met’s Musical Instruments Collection. Following the concerts, guests are invited on a guided tour of the newly reopened Musical Instruments galleries.

El intérprete, compositor, y educador nominado al Grammy Zacbe Pichardo presenta una serie de conciertos de arpa jarocha; un arpa de madera típica de la costa del Golfo de México. Es la primera instalación de una serie en tres partes que presenta arpas tradicionales de todo el mundo. Después de los conciertos se invita al público a un recorrido de la galería de instrumentos musicales, reabierta recientemente.
